Hot recycling method: old remixed pavements
The hot recycling method is only used for the rehabilitation of damaged asphalt surface courses so that an intact layer structure is of vital importance. The structure of the pavement underlying the surface course must fully fulfill with all the requirements in terms of loading capacity and ice resistance. The hot recycler processes the existing pavement, by improving it with a virgin mixture, if necessary. Once the recycling operation has finished, the new surface course will accomplish again with all the requirements.
Improvement of the surface texture
The hot recycling improves all the relevant properties of the surface and the pavement´s profile as well as the composition of the aggregated fractions in the surface layer. It helps to restore the lack of resistance to the sliding, for assuring the water draining and for removing the wheels slots. The hot recycling offers a huge saving potential. About 85% of the transport trucks and 70% of the virgin mixture may be kept in comparison with the pavement replacement with a milling machine and a paver.
