To extend the life cycle of the wear roads
First of all, cold milling machines with fine milling drums prepare the road surface for applying the fine layer. The resulting fine profile of the milled roadway creates an ideal substrate with which the micro-coating may be coupled. The profile´s “valleys” finely ground fit safely the micro-surface layers, thus producing a structure of perfect layer.
The cold thin layers paved in cold represent a profitable solution as well as a fast one. The fine wear road may be paved in the form of a mobile work site and the road is re-open to traffic in a short period of time.
Mixture for the pavement
Once the fine milling machines have completed their preliminary operations, the pavement mixture for the cold and fine layer of the pavement is directly produced in the site through mixing and placement automatic machines. It is composed of a mineral mixture well classified, it is a mixture with particle sizes that goes from 3 to 8 mm, modified polymer, cationic bitumen emulsion, cement and water. The cold paving mixture is spread throughout all the width in two separated layers, the first one being the profile and the second one, the surface layer.
Economic alternative to the complete rehabilitation of the pavement
It is stranger every day, that the difficult financial situation of the public budgets allows to perform at great scale, costly complete rehabilitation measures. In order to guarantee that the road network keeps in good conditions, alternative methods such as paving fine layers in cold application are therefore more popular than ever. The fine layers in cold application offer an economically efficient solution, but also a fast one.
Paving fine layers in cold application is suitable for carrying out as mobile roadworks, and the road may be re-open for the traffic rapidly. More than 5 million of square kilometers of fine layers in cold application are paved in Germany only each year.
