In-situ cold recycling of asphalt layers
When cold recycling, the existing pavement is milled up and crushed. The addition of binding agents such as cement, bitumen emulsion or foamed hot bitumen creates a new, homogeneous material mixture.
The recycled, homogeneous material mix is distributed evenly across the entire working width by a spreading auger, and then directly paved and pre-compacted by a paving screed.
The cold recyclers are not only ideal for recycling with the customary up-cut milling process, in which the milling and mixing rotor operates against the direction of travel, but also with the down-cut process, in which the milling and mixing rotor operates in the direction of travel.
